A Window Into Another World
Exploring the intersection of nostalgia, possibility, and the infinite unknown
Mid-century architecture carried an implicit promise: modernity would lift us above the everyday. Elevated highways, observation decks, airports that looked like spacecraft—all pointing toward a future where mundane travel and cosmic exploration would merge. This piece literalizes that promise. A brutalist elevated roadway extends into the frame, vintage cars parked along its edge as if their drivers have stepped out to admire the view. And what a view it is: Earth and Moon share the sky in impossible proximity, celestial bodies reduced to scenic overlooks. The composition draws from both highway photography of the 1960s and astronomical imagery. The result feels like a rest stop on an interplanetary interstate—a moment of pause on a journey too vast to comprehend.
I dreamed of highways that led not to the next city, but to the next world.
